TaylorMade Treasures Baby Sling Wearing Instructions

These instructions work equally well for most unpadded baby slings with rings (and many padded baby slings with rings).

Vertical Carry    |    Nursing Positions    |    Forward Facing    |    Hip Carry    |    Back Carry

Vertical Carry:

Put arm through sling, with tail pointing down.  Bring over your head to rest on opposite shoulder.  Rings should be high, just in front of your shoulder.

Place baby high up on your shoulder opposite the rings. Be sure to support your baby’s weight until you are sure they are secure.

Lower your baby into the sling while supporting their weight. Let their feet come out the bottom if you desire. Make sure the pouch is under their bottom like a chair.

Keep baby high, and support their weight while you pull on the tail to tighten the sling. Pull out and down. The rings should land in front of your shoulder, about where you would pin a corsage. Take care not to pull too vigorously and pull the fabric out from under baby’s bottom.

Spread the body of the sling across your baby’s back and shoulders for support. For young babies, the top part can come up around the back of the neck or head for support.

If the top portion is loose (baby is hanging away from you), pull on that part of the tail so that the top gets tighter.

Most babies like to be held in this position.

Nursing Positions:

          Vertical

Begin in the vertical position.  Loosen your sling a bit by pulling up on the bottom ring.

Lower baby into the correct height for nursing.  Adjust the fabric around baby and head.  May tighten top rail by pulling on that portion of the tail.

          Cradle Hold

Loosen sling slightly by pulling up on bottom ring. Reach into sling from the side and gently flip your baby to the side so their head is away from the rings. Their feet and legs will be hanging out the side of the sling. If sling feels like it is digging into your side, loosen it more. Be sure to only flip the baby, not twist the sling.

Forward Facing:

Spread open pouch to make a deep seat. Make sure both sides are even.

Hold baby facing out and criss-cross their legs.

Lower baby into the pouch. Be certain that the pouch spreads up behind the baby and in front.

Tighten top rail by pulling on side of tail that is connected to the top part of the pouch area.

Front-facing position.

Hip Carry

Lower your child into the sling on the opposite side of the rings, and rest them on your hip with their legs straddling your hip.Take care to support their weight.

Pull the tail out and down to tighten the sling.

Adjust the fabric of the sling so that the top of the sling comes up under their arms or or their shoulders. The bottom of the sling can be extended to their knee. Tighten the top portion by pulling on that side of the tail, if needed to pull them in close.

Side view of the hip carry.

Back Carry

Begin in the hip carry position with the top of the sling covering your child's shoulders. The rings should begin high up on your shoulder, or even behind your shoulder.

Lift up your arm over their head while you carefully slide them around to the back.

Make sure the fabric is completely under their bottom like a chair. Adjust the fabric around their shoulders if necessary.

Pull on the tail to tighten the sling. You will want the rings to land either between your breasts, or above them.

It is a good idea to have someone check for you to make sure your child is securely in the sling, and safe.
