These instructions will work with wraparound style baby carriers
like the Didymos,
Girasol,
Extra Long
Rebozo and more.
The back or rucksack carry requires relatively little fabric, as
compared to other wraps. The baby sling shown below is a 3.6 m #16
Girasol Wraparound baby carrier.
Lay
the fabric flat on a bed or couch.
Place your baby on the middle of the length of fabric.
Sit
with your baby's legs straddling your waist.
Gather the ends of the fabric and pull them up over each shoulder.
Pull
the baby up onto your back, bending over to keep him balanced on
your back.
You can hold one end of fabric between your knees while you adjust
the other end, keeping baby secure on your back.
Pull
the ends of fabric down and toward your back, either simply under
your arms or crossed in front of your chest (as shown). The latter
is usually more comfortable.
Bring
the fabric across baby's knees, then tie a square knot under his
bottom.
The
fabric at the shoulder can be spread across the shoulder cap (as
shown), or can sit on top of the shoulder, off of the arms.
The kangaroo carry is the same tying method, only with the entire
rig turned 180 degrees, child and all, so that the child is on the
front of the body.
