Wraparound Baby Carrier Wearing Positions

These instructions will work with wraparound style baby carriers like the Didymos, EllaRoo, Girasol and more.

I have listed these carrying positions in order of the length of fabric needed to tie them. The Hip Carry requires the least amount of fabric; the Cross, Newborn, and Wrap Cross Carry require the most. (These last three wraps are variations on the same theme.) I have included various names for ease of identification if you are surfing and comparing.

The model in these pictures (isn't she lovely?) is a size 4. I give the length of the wraparound baby carrier that she needs for each wrap next to the picture.

Hip Carry (for toddlers) / Cradle (for infants)
(This is tied at one shoulder like a rebozo or selendang.)

2.6 m #18 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Hip Cross Carry
(This is the most secure and, I think, comfortable hip carry ever.)

2.6 m #18 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Back Carry / Rucksack / Kangaroo (on front)
(This can be crossed over the chest or brought straight down under the armpits. It can also be turned around to wear the child on the front.)

3.6 m #16 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Short Cross Carry
(This is a front carry that can be done with relatively little fabric.)

3.6 m #01 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Cross Carry
(This is one of the most common, comfortable, and easy ways to carry a heavy toddler.)

4.2 m #13 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Newborn Wrap Cross Carry
(This is a completely hands-free, secure, cozy wrap for infants.)

4.2 m #00 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Wrap Cross Carry
(This is the most secure way to carry a toddler, and can also be modified for a vertical newborn carry.)

4.2 m #10 Girasol

[Wearing Instructions]

Wrap Cross Back Carry
(This is the most secure back carry, but takes a little more time to do than the rucksack.)

4.2 m #04 EllaRoo Wrap

[Wearing Instructions]
