I hope this letter finds you all well. I know many of you on the East Coast are still playing in the snow, but I have been getting many questions lately about hot weather slings. So in anticipation of the coming warmer weather, here's a rundown of your slinging options. The bad news is: carrying a child next to your body can get hot, no matter which carrier you use. The good news is: it's not that bad. (I speak from experience; we live in southern California!) Generally, the one-shouldered slings (EllaRoo Sling, Maya Sling, Maya Pouch, Rebozo, Selendang) will all be fine. But if you are determined to find the absolute coolest option, the Rebozo is the thinnest fabric out there. The wraparound carriers are the warmest (Girasol, Wide Podaegi) because they cover more of the body. But for those of us with children 20 lbs or more, the tradeoff is usually worth it. New Chinese Mei Tai Baby Carrier
This type of carrier has traditionally been used by the Hmong people in Vietnam, Thailand and China. The big square of fabric on the back makes a perfect canvas for artistic expression, with intricate embroidery gracing many of them. This month we are offering our newsletter readers 10% off of the Mei Tai carriers for the next two weeks. We have been making some changes and reorganizing the website to better serve everyone's needs. Please let us know if you encounter any problems. If you like what you see, we wouldn't mind hearing that, too! How are we doing? I like to hear and see how your slings are working out for you. If you get a spare moment in your busy, busy schedules, I would love a note and a picture. If you like what you have read here, I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward this to a friend - or two! Thanks for your support! And have a good month. ~Vesta Hartman Garcia ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |
