Short Cross Carry
Instructions |
These instructions will work with wraparound style baby carriers
like the Didymos,
EllaRoo,
Girasol,
Kabuki,
Extra Long
Rebozo and more.
The short cross carry requires relatively little fabric, as compared
to other wraps. The sling shown below is a 3.6 m #01 Girasol Wraparound
baby carrier.
Drape
the fabric over one shoulder, with more than half of the fabric
behind you. (You will learn with practice exactly how to place the
fabric to start. The starting postition of the fabric determines
where the knot ends up at the end.)
Put
one arm (the arm with the fabric over the shoulder) behind your
back, at the small of your back, and with the other hand pull the
long end of fabric up over the opposite shoulder. This will make
a V on your back.
Take
the long end of the fabric and pull it across your front and around
your waist to the back . . .
and
pull it through the V to the other side of your body.
Tie
a square knot at your waist.
You can now see the X across the front that will form your child's
seat. The legs are going to poke through the sides of the X (see
below).
Lean
your child against your shoulder (as if you were going to burp her)
and insert her into the X, one leg through each side of the X.
Spread
the fabric under her bottom, first the inner part, then the outer
part (as shown).
When you are done, the fabric will be spread so that the child is
supported from the knees to the middle/upper back.
The
fabric at the shoulder can be spread across the shoulder cap (as
shown), or can sit on top of the shoulder, off of the arms.
