Wrap Cross Back
Carry Instructions |
These instructions will work with wraparound style baby carriers
like the Didymos,
EllaRoo
Wrap, Girasol,
Kabuki,
Extra Long
Rebozo and more.
The sling shown below is a 4.2 m #04 EllaRoo Wraparound baby carrier.
You
can start this with the baby on the couch/bed or standing/sitting, as
shown below.Place the middle of the length of fabric at the middle of
your baby's back, gather the two ends and lift the child around to your
back.
Lean
forward, to create a stable place for your baby.
Make
sure the fabric is spread across baby's back, preferably from armpits
to knees.
Take
one end of the fabric, cross it over your chest to the opposite shoulder,
and cross it behind baby's back (see next picture). You can secure one
end of the fabric between your knees while you adjust the other end, as
seen to the left.
Bring
the fabric down and under baby's leg, back to the front of your body.It
is easiest if you try to keep the fabric spread during this process, so
that you don't have to try to spread it after the fact.
Do
the same with the second end of the fabric. As you can see in this picture,
the first end is pinched under baby's leg, and will stay in place while
you adjust the second end.
Tie
the two ends together in a square knot in front of your waist.
Adjust
the fabric in front of your body and over your shoulders for comfort. You
may need to do periodic minor adjustments if you wear baby for an extended
time. This is a very secure and comfortable back carry. And it gets faster
and easier to do as you practice!
